If you are visiting Iceland during the winter time, I highly recommend going with day tours rather than renting your own car and driving around. The roads are icy and slippery. Also, snowstorms are quite frequent. If you are not an experienced driver in the snow and icy roads, it could be very dangerous. Our tour guide actually mentioned that there are so many accidents with tourist cars during the winter time.
When we feel like eating something healthy and light, we like to eat a simple salad with a protein.
Day 2 we spent exploring and discovering the southern coast of Iceland. This part of the country was very different from what we have seen the day before when we went around the Golden Circle. We saw a lot of new views that were vast and gorgeous. Interestingly, Ryan and I both thought that Iceland reminded us of Maui a lot, just covered in snow instead of tropical trees.
Before our trip to Iceland, we heard from many that the food won’t be good, so don’t have any expectations. Some people even suggested to take cup noodles with us! After doing our own research, we found some good places so we decided to take our chances.
We spent 2 full days and a half day in Iceland 2 weeks ago. It was truly one of the most amazing trips we have taken so far! If you have not visited Iceland yet, please put that on your list. In these series, I will be sharing our itinerary for 2 full days in Iceland during the winter.
While researching what to do in Geneva, Chamonix-Mont Blanc came up. We’ve never heard of this place before! We are planning to do a longer Switzerland trip to admire the Swiss Alps later this year, so we decided to do a day trip to see the French Alps!
This is a popular Korean side dish that is super easy and fast.
This is a super easy and quick pasta recipe, perfect for weekday dinner for those who work and want something simple!

In the past, Ryan and I have always spent the holidays with friends & families back in the SF bay area and Texas (where my family currently lives). This year, since we are in London for a limited time only and my in-laws were visiting shortly after Christmas, we decided to spend it in London, just the two of us. Ryan was initially slightly homesick since everyone around us was going home for Christmas, but I thought it was actually pretty cute and romantic to spend it just the two of us!
Christmas Markets are a thing in Europe, London included. London has several of them, but the biggest & most popular among tourists and locals is the one in Hyde Park, Winter Wonderland. It opens from late November to early January, and it’s definitely worth a visit. We went a few times during this winter and can’t get enough of it! If you are visiting London during this time of year, make sure you put this in your itinerary.
I’ve done a few afternoon teas back home in San Francisco, but since I’m in London now, I wanted to get the real authentic experience. There are so many places here that do afternoon teas - you can probably get it at a neighborhood corner cafe. With a few of my girlfriends I met in London, we decided to try the Hotel Cafe Royal’s afternoon tea, which is one of the more iconic places to have your full British afternoon tea experience.
Notting Hill became popular through the movie starring Julia Roberts & Hugh Grant but now it’s one of the favorite spots for both locals and tourists to visit. Its cute & colorful houses, great restaurants and cafes, and the Portobello Road Market, which is a street antique market, make the neighborhood so attractive. Make sure to visit Notting Hill on Saturdays because that’s the only day all the markets and shops are open!
As food lovers, the first thing we did after booking our trip to Prague was to look for places to eat. During our search, we found out about this place, La Degustation Boheme Bourgeoise.
Halloween is not as big here in London compared to the states. Maybe some trick-or-treating on the streets (this could be a scam so watch out if little kids come up to you asking for money) and occasional sightings of people dressed up in costumes to go to Halloween parties, but that’s about it. Thanksgiving is definitely not a thing here since it’s an American holiday. So, what does that mean? Christmas comes super early in London! And.. I love it!
Close friends from back home were doing an Europe trip so we traveled over to Prague over a weekend to meet up with them. Our first time there! Having seen so many beautiful pictures of Prague before, we were very excited for the trip.
My first recipe to share is one of our favorites.
